Tips for a healthy Summer: Skincare to Sunglasses
Protecting your skin from the sun’s radiation is a priority for healthy skin cells and to lower your risk of developing skin diseases.
We are all in a hurry to get out the door to get the day started, but it’s imperative that we slow down to make sure we are doing everything possible to avoid any unwarranted risk to our health. Slowing down has become quite foreign, but it allows you to focus on the tasks you need to complete in order to accomplish your goals and to make sure you are able to keep you and your family safe and healthy. A great way to alleviate added tasks is to plan ahead.
I can remember when I was younger and my mom had everything down to a science when it came to getting us ready for school; especially me. As soon as the alarm came on & our little feet pitter-patter on the floor we were instructed to wash our face, brush our teeth and come eat breakfast before getting dressed for school. However, my skin was very delicate and sensitive to a degree that I had to thoroughly moisturize, put on medication for my eczema with a different wardrobe than my three younger siblings before I would go down for breakfast in the morning. So as you can imagine our mom was very organized with some extra TLC. She was the best!
She did everything she could do to make me feel better about myself, especially during the warmer months of summer to help alleviate sunburn and eczema flare up. These are 5 things my mom did to improve my skin health:
- Moisturizer and sunscreen
- Light-weight and long sleeve clothing
- Wide brim hats with sunglasses (UV 400)
- Stay inside during peak hours (mid morning to early evening hours)
- Stay in shaded areas if you have to be outside
I hope this helps you and your family out. Remember to slow down and include your family to help plan for this to avoid added stress on one another.
Stay Hydrated and Moisturized
