Hibiscus 🌺

It’s Wellness Wednesday and our star of the week is a versatile plant that thrives in tropical climates. It not only provides beauty to your garden, but known to be a great source of health benefits for your skin and hair.
Let’s give a round of applause to the Hibiscus plant.

Health benefits of hibiscus tea are known to: 

  • Safe guard with antioxidants such as vitamin c that can help treat dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
  • Amino Acids rich in nutrients to help stimulate new hair growth 

There are several ways to consume and utilize hibiscus plants:

  • Tea: You can make tea by placing dried hibiscus in a pot of boiling water or place your hibiscus buds in a tea strainer for a nice hearty drink.
  • Extract: Hibiscus is a versatile plant that can be used in a variety of ways such as creating a DIY (do it yourself). Hibiscus can be added to a carrier oil (Sweet Almond, Jojoba, Coconut Oil) to simmer for a couple of hours before adding it to Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter or Kokum Butter for a luxurious and creamy body butter. 

The next time you’re shopping at your local co-op store pick up sone dried hibiscus. Although hibiscus has some great benefits for you be sure to consult your medical professional before consuming.
